It's Time for Medicare

As you approach your 65th birthday, it's time to start considering your Medicare plan options. You will qualify for Medicare as long as you meet all of the following requirements:

 

+ You have turned, or are about to turn 65

 

+ You or your spouse has been employed for at least 10 years

 

+ You are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Medicare covers essential health benefits:

 

+ Medicare Part A – Hospital insurance that helps cover inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice and home health care.     

      *A Medicare Supplement may be needed in addition to this plan

+ Medicare Part B – Medical insurance that helps cover medically necessary doctor services and outpatient care. It also includes some preventive services to help you maintain good health. 
      *A Medicare Supplement may be needed in addition to this plan

+ Medicare Part C – Also known as a Medicare Advantage plan, Part C includes all the benefits of Medicare Parts A and B, plus additional services. This eliminates the need for a Medicare Supplement (some plans also include prescription drug coverage.) 

 

+ Medicare Part D – Prescription drug coverage helping to lower your prescription drug costs. 

+ Medicare Supplement – Provides additional coverage in conjunction with Medicare Parts A and B, helping to cover expenses such as copayments and deductibles.

When can you enroll?

There are specific times when you can enroll in Medicare, or change to a different Medicare Plan.

 

Initial Enrollment Period: Dependent on your 65th Birthday

Three months before you become Medicare eligible, the month you become eligible, and up to three months after becoming eligible, you may enroll in Medicare. 

+ Annual Enrollment Period: Oct. 15th - Dec. 7th
During this period of time, you may enroll in Medicare coverage or switch to a different plan.

+ Open Enrollment Period: Jan. 1st - March 31st 

Members of Medicare Advantage or Original Medicare (Parts A and B) may switch to a different Medicare plan during this time period.

+ Special Enrollment Periods

Some extenuating circumstances may qualify you to enroll during a special enrollment period. Contact our office directly for more information.
